Dentist Drill Freakout

Dentist Drill Freakout

Neuroscience can explain why you're scared of the dentist.

Researchers in Japan say they're closer to an answer why a dentist's drill brings on the shakes and increases fear level of some people.

They scanned the brain of some dental fraidy cats and found big differences in their brain responses compared to people who not as afraid of dentists.

According to a report released this weekend at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in San Diego, it has a lot to do with the sound of the drill.

Scientists can use this information to make drills sound differently and possibly help people feel more relaxed when getting dental work done.
