More Americans Express Moral Objection To Cheating On Taxes

Fewer Americans think cheating on taxes is okay.  David Selig, tax practitioner with Selig and Associates says most people want to do the right thing when tax season rolls around. 87% of people surveyed by the IRS said any form cheating on taxes was unacceptable, a three percentage point increase over the previous year. The survey claims personal integrity is the real reason fewer people tolerate cheating on taxes. 

A board chairman with the IRS said most taxpayers play by the rules and expect everyone else to do the same. Tax practitioner David Selig says it's a bad idea to deal with the IRS directly when under any type investigation and in most cases it's possible to avoid criminal prosecution in tax related cases.
