Motorist surrenders after lengthy LA freeway chase

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police have arrested a motorist who led officers on a lengthy Los Angeles police chase that began with reports of a man with a gun.

The man surrendered Wednesday morning after driving a white minivan erratically for more than an hour on surface streets and in both directions of U.S. 101.

Officer Mike Lopez says police initially responded following reports of an armed man. Police didn't immediately say if a gun was recovered.

The man drove at high speeds, alternating with full stops, while occasionally gesturing out the window at police and news helicopters.
