On Friday the Justice Department said it will temporarily transfer immigration judges to 6 detention centers near the U.S-Mexico border as part of putting Trump's immigration orders into effect.
The transfers, happening today, are also happening in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
President Trump's executive order on border enforcement signed in January says judges should be immediately assigned to immigration detention centers.
Right now there's a backlog of cases at immigration courts. At the end of January there were 542,646 cases, including 20,856 people who were in custody.
In addition to unclogging the courts, Trump is also calling for a 19% increase in immigration judges.
Currently there are about 300 judges, the increase would bring it to 449 positions.
