Secret Service Agent Suspended After Meeting a Prostitute

Reports say a secret service agent assigned to Vice President Mike Pence's detail is suspended from duty after allegedly meeting with a prostitute.

CNN first reported the incident and the Associated Press later confirmed the story, both saying the information came from unnamed sources.

Police responded to a call from a Maryland hotel manager who was reporting suspicious activity in one of the rooms.

A CNN source says the accused agent was only caught after police saw him leaving the hotel and that it wasn't a set up or a sting operation.

The agent was arrested and charged with solicitation. He later reported the arrest himself to the Secret Service.

A secret service spokesman says the Office of Professional Responsibility is aware of the situation and is taking the appropriate actions.

“The Secret Service takes allegations of criminal activity very seriously...all employees are held to the highest level of professional and ethical standards of conduct.”

The unnamed agent had to surrender all his government issued equipment, had his security clearance and facility access suspended and was placed on administrative leave.
