Louis Marinelli is the president of the Yes California Independence Campaign. This group submitted a ballot initiative to make California a separate country.
Things got weird though, when it was learned that Marinelli had significant ties to Russia. In fact, when he was on CNN a few months ago to talk about Cal-Exit, he appeared from Russia:
Looks like those ties were stronger than anyone knew. Marinelli has announced that he is moving to Russia permanently. The group's ballot initiative has been withdrawn.
Another group, The California Freedom Coalition, has vowed to file their own ballot initiative.
Should these folks just give it up already, or is a separate California a goal worth pursuing?
