The LAPD may add new rules for officers who fire their guns.

Stricter standards could be imposed by the LAPD for when officers can use their guns. The Police Commission is set to decide if officers should be required to 'de-escalate' confrontations without the need for violence.

The Commission says it's part of its efforts to reduce the number of police shootings.

The officer's union says the new rules could cause officers to hesitate at a crucial moment, putting themselves and people at higher risk.

The Police Commission will decide on the new rules tomorrow.
