Today Declared "La La Land" Day in Los Angeles

The modern day musical hit "La La Land" is getting its own day in the city that inspired it. Mayor Eric Garcetti will declare April 25th, "La La Land" Day in honor of the film that received six Academy Awards (and almost Best Picture), and prominently featured many LA landmarks.

Garcetti will make the declaration in front of City Hall where aerial dancers are set to perform a medley of dances inspired by the film. The film's director, Damien Chazelle, composer Justin Hurwitz, production designers David and Sand Wasco, choreographer Mandy Moore and jewelry designer Kyle Chan will join the mayor for the declaration.

The critical hit starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as two Hollywood nobodies who fall in love while trying to make their dreams come true featured several LA landmarks including the Griffith Park Observatory, the Angels Flight railway and the Grand Central Market.

(By the way, if any film should be honored on April 25th, how is it not Miss Congeniality?)
