Sixth Street in Downtown LA to be closed for five months

As if traffic in Los Angeles weren't bad enough, a portion of Sixth Street will be closed for the next five months thanks to work on Metro's Regional Connector Project.

The closure began on Saturday as Sixth Street was closed between Flower and Hope streets, just northwest of Pershing Square.

Exit ramps from the Southbound 110 freeway will be closed and the northbound Sixth Street exit ramp will be down to just one lane.

The Regional Connector is a nearly two-mile underground light-rail extension that will connect the Blue, Expo and Gold lines in downtown Los Angeles. The project will also add three new stations to the system. First Street/Centra Avenue, Second Street/Broadway and Second Place/Hope Street.

Trying to get into downtown over the next five months might be tough, but by the time the project is completed in 2021, hopefully, it'll be well worth the effort.
