Trump Supporters Thought Declaration of Independence Tweets was Propaganda

NPR decided to expand an annual tradition by tweeting out the Declaration of Independence line by line on the Fourth of July.

They sent out 113 consecutive posts, in 140 character increments obviously, every line of the founding document of the United States.

While many saw the tweets and enjoyed the sentiment, a few misunderstood and took offense.

Several Twitter users reacted angrily and accused NPR of pushing an agenda on them.

One user said the whole thing was the "dumbest idea" he had ever seen on Twitter.

“Literally no one is going to read 5000 tweets about this trash.”

Others thought the account had been hacked and referred to the tweets as spam.

Some people assumed some of the lines were directly aimed at President Trump.

After a while, a few of the users realized their mistake and took responsibility for their gaffes...sort of.
