A couple in San Bruno, California, cat-burgled an actual cat over the weekend.
Police officials said that Oleksandr Mirza and Ching Yen broke into an apartment, pepper-sprayed the resident, and took the resident’s cat.
The San Bruno Police Department says that hours after the catnapping, officers in the San Francisco area arrested Mirza and Yen. The couple were sent to San Mateo County Jail and were booked on charges related to robbery, burglary, unlawful use of tear gas, and conspiracy.
According to the Associated Press, since the arrest, police have not released a motive and didn’t explain whether the cat was returned to its owner.
Police Lt. Troy Fry claims the suspects knew the victim and there was a dispute over who the cat actually belonged to. Thankfully, Fry says the cat left the situation unharmed.
