Citing campaign finance reports, the L.A. Times revealed last week that State Senator Josh Newman (D-Fullerton) has raised $1.8 million to fight the recall effort. The California Republican party has spent $822,000 on the petition drive to kick him out.

More than enough valid signatures have been submitted to qualify a recall measure on the ballot, but the state continues to drag its feet and is conducting a review of the cost of the recall before calling an election.

Seriously?!  They're going to concern themselves over the cost of a recall election, when they already blow our money away?

Newman reported $610,909 left in his campaign account as of September 30th, according to a campaign finance statement filed last week.

He got all kinds of contributions, including $100,000 each from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers PAC and the Southern California Partnership for Jobs.

In addition to that, Democrats have also given Newman $171,101 worth of electronic mailers and political consulting to his campaign.

A separate campaign committee that's sponsored by the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California has also raised $675,000 to keep Newman in office.
