NorCal Man Confesses To 25-Year-Old Cold Case Murder

Brian Keith Hawkins has admitted to a nearly 25-year-old cold case murder.

The Redding area man turned himself in on Tuesday, telling police that he killed Frank Wesley McAlister in 1993 with the help of Shanna and Curtis Culver.

Hawkins met with KRCR News and recorded an interview that was not aired until he turned himself in to Redding police.

During the interview, Hawkins explained that he has been torn apart by guilt everyday since the murder.

"Horrible, horrible, horrible, absolute horror, absolutely horrible since that day. Every minute of every day has been a nightmare. It's kind of weird, Frank never got to have a life, but we were teenagers and now I'm 44 and still haven't even had a life and now most likely won't anyway."

He said that it was his relationship with Christ that finally led him to coming forward.

"God and Christ and these things that have happened over the course of 25 years have pushed me and pushed me to do the right thing.  I know the wrong can't be changed but this is the closest I can come to doing the right thing."

Police believe robbery was the motive.
