The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is warning residents of an influx of large, semi-aquatic rodents that are reproducing within the San Joaquin Valley.
The species, Nutria (or Myocastor coypus) falls between a beaver and a groundhog.
They can grow to more than 2 feet long, including a 12-inch tail and they can weigh up to 20 pounds.
Their large size is a major issue as they can go through 10 times the vegetation they consume and they burrow in levees and road beds.
The CDFW also says they breed early and often...within one year they can produce more than 200 offspring.
