"Law & Order: SVU" Episode Based On Turpin Case Debuts Tonight

New Law and Order: SVU episode to feature Turpin

A new "Law and Order: SVU" episode is being ripped from the headlines once again.

Wednesday's episode of the procedural crime drama sees the SVU squad come into contact with a family that resembles the Turpin family. Much like the "Perris House of Horrors," the New York detectives are alerted to the family's situation after one of their children escapes.

In a preview clip released by E!, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) races to rescue a young girl being held hostage by her father (played by Ray McKinnon), but finds herself staring down several guns.

David and Louise Turpin are accused of starving and neglecting their 13 kids in their Perris, California home. The 'Perris House of Horrors' was revealed after the Turpin's 17-year-old daughter escaped and alerted officers to their situation by calling 911 from a deactivated cell phone.

Officers investigated the family's home and discovered some of the 17-year-old's siblings chained to their beds and extremely malnourished.

The SVU episode: "The Book of Esther" airs tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.
