Woman, 39, Arrested for Alleged Threats to Glendora Catholic Girls School

GLENDORA (CNS) - A 39-year-old Rialto woman was arrested today for allegedly sending threatening letters to St. Lucy's Priory High School in Glendora.

Details were not released about what possibly motivated the suspect, identified as Magaly Esmeralda Alvarenga, to allegedly send threats to the Catholic girls school at 655 W. Sierra Madre Ave.

``While the arrest ... occurred earlier this afternoon, the investigation is still in progress, therefore we are not releasing details at this time,'' Glendora Police Department Sgt. Shawna Celello said.

Alvarenga was arrested on suspicion of three counts of making criminal/terrorist threats, Celello said.

``The arrest came as a result of an active and rigorous investigation by our department's detective bureau with the support and cooperation of (the school's) principal, faculty, staff and students,'' Colella said.

Alvarenga was being held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, with bail set at $50,000, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate records.
