Student Suspected in Sexual Assaults at CSUN Arrested

NORTHRIDGE (CNS) - A 19-year-old student was arrested Friday at Cal State Northridge in connection with a sexual assault investigation and officials are asking possible victims to come forward.

The suspect, identified as Davis Moreno-Jaime, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on the campus, according to university officials.

Moreno-Jaime, a 2017 graduate of Redlands High School who played soccer at CSUN, is suspected of multiple assaults, the first of which occurred in April 2017 and the last earlier this month, according to ABC7, which described the young man as a suspended student-athlete.

Moreno-Jaime scored only one shot in his 14 games with the Matadors as a freshman during the 2017 season.

A warrant had been issued for Moreno-Jaime's arrest, officials said.

The attacks occurred on or near the CSUN campus, ABC7 reported.

“This is an ongoing multi-jurisdictional investigation involving several law enforcement agencies,” according to a statement from CSUN Chief of Police Anne Glavin, who said campus police and the Los Angeles Police Department were asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward as “ there are believed to be additional survivors of this suspect.”

“Regardless of where the crime occurred, if you or someone you know was victimized by this individual, please contact” Los Angeles or CSUN police, Glavin said.

Moreno-Jaime's image was released at a news conference held on the campus Friday.

Dianne F. Harrison, CSUN's president, issued a statement expressing gratitude to those who provided information to police and urging others to come forward.

“ I am grateful to the brave students and women who stepped forward to provide information to the police regarding sexual assaults,” Harrison said.

Moreno-Jaime may have been known to the alleged victims.

At the news conference, Glavin urged potential victims or anyone with information to call police, where ever they are.

“Let me say particularly to our CSUN students, it does not matter where the crime occurred. Please just walk into one or the other of the police departments and report what happened,” Glavin said. “Telling us your story does not obligate you to see it through to the full prosecution under law. If that happens, good.”

Added Harrison: “I want to make it clear: CSUN does not tolerate sexual assault, period. We do not take the crimes committed by or against members of our community lightly.”

Moreno-Jaime scored on his only shot in his 14 games with the Matadors as a freshman during the 2017 season.

Anyone who may have been victimized by Moreno-Jaime was urged to call LAPD Detectives Arellano or Arguelles at (818) 832-0609 or CSUN Sgt. Rene Lino at (818) 677-6919.
