Young Man Shot, Killed in Boyle Heights

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A young man was shot and killed today in Boyle Heights. The victim was found about 12:10 p.m. in an alley in the area of State Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office. 

Police reported he was 20 to 25 years old, but his grandparents told ABC7 that he was 18 and was part of Homeboy Industries, a nonprofit that provides job training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women.No suspect information was immediately available and it was not immediately known if the killing was gang-related, Im said. 

Homicide detectives were investigating, he said.
