Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear Remake Two Shows from the '70s

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel teams up with Norman Lear, the original creator of All in the Family and The Jeffersons to do a 90-minute special live in front of a studio audience -- and it might ruffle a few feathers because they are using the original script.

Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei will be playing Archie and Edith Bunker while Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes will be George and Louise Jefferson plus a star-studded supporting cast.

All in the Family is about the Bunkers, a working class Caucasian family living in Queens, New York. The Jeffersons is a spinoff of the show where the African American family that lived next door to the Bunkers moved to the Upper Eastside Manhattan, New York.

The original shows had references to a lot of touchy subjects, such as racism, abortion, alcoholism, and homosexuality.

All in the Family ran from 1971 until 1979 and The Jeffersons ran from 1975 until 1985.
