A few weeks after dozens of dogs were found living in filthy conditions inside an upscale home in Orange, California, Orange County Supervisors say 50 of the rescued Shih-Tzu's are ready for adoption.
"We're pleased to announced that some of the Shih-tzus are now being released for adoption into loving, forever homes," "We expect the remainder of the dogs to be released for adoption in the very near future. Our goal is to place every single one of these dogs with loving families who will care for them the rest of their lives."
Anyone who may be interested in adopting one of the dogs, people can fill out an application online at OCpetinfo.com beginning at noon on Tuesday. Officials are encouraging anyone who may be interested in adopting the dogs as soon as possible.
Last month, a home in an upscale Orange county neighborhood was found with approximately 136 dogs in a multi-million dollar home who were reportedly living in filthy conditions. The house was red-tagged, making it uninhabitable, after authorities discovered homeowners were hoarding animals. Orange Police discovered the dogs after an anonymous tip alerted them to the potential animal cruelty. The dogs ranged in age from puppies to elder dogs, with many of the animals having various stages of medical issues. Some neighbors said they believe the homeowners were breeding the dogs to sell them.
The homeowners have been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty charges in relation to the hoarding case.
