Coronavirus Pushes Back Release Date of New Emojis

Sad news for smartphone users.....new emojis are being put on hold.

Non-profit group, Unicode Constortium, oversees the creation of emojis and says due to the COVID-19 outbreak they have to push back the release of the next pack.

President of the Consortium, Mark Davis says:

"Under the current circumstances we've heard that our contributors have a lot on their plates at the moment and decided it was in the best interests of our volunteers and the organizations that depend on the standard to push out our release date. This year we simply can't commit to the same schedule we've adhered to in the past."

The next version will be pushed back by at least six months and would appear on phones and other devices in 2022.
