Robbery Suspect Killed in Crash During Police Pursuit

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - One carjacking suspect was killed and the other critically injured when the car in which they were pursued by police crashed in the Harvard Park area of Los Angeles, authorities said today.

The pursuit began at 11:42 p.m. Sunday in the area patroled by the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Station, according to a dispatcher in the LAPD Operations Center.

Fox11 reported the pursuit began at Western and Vernon avenues.

The car collided with another vehicle and then crashed into parked cars at 60th Street and Normandie Avenue, the dispatcher said.

The passenger in the suspect car was pronounced dead at the scene and paramedics took the driver to a hospital in critical condition, she said.

The deceased passenger was female and the injured driver was a man, and two people in the car struck during the pursuit were also injured according to Fox11.

Video shot by civilians at the scene showed the badly damaged white car.
