Chris Evans Sends 'Captain America' Shield to Boy Who Protected Sister

The First Avenger is sending a very special gift to someone who deserves that and a whole lot more.

In a video posted to Instagram, Chris Evans, known for playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sent a video message to 6-year-old Bridger Walker, whose story about his actions to save his four-year-old sister from a dog attack went viral this week.

In a video message posted to Instagram by Walker's aunt, Evans congratulated the young man on his bravery, and called him a true hero.

"Captain America here. So, I read your story, I saw what you did. Now, I'm sure you heard a lot of this over the last couple days, but let me be the next one to tell you, pal, you're a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless, your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you," Evans said. "I'm going to track down your address and I'm going to send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal, you deserve it.

"Keep being the man you are. We need people like you," Evans said. "Hang in there. I know recovery might be tough. But, based on what I've seen, I don't think there's much that can slow you down."

According to a statement from the family about the incident, the 6-year-old put himself between a 1-year-old German shepherd mix that was trying to attack his 4-year-old sister.

"Tragically, instead of running off, the dog leaped and latched onto Bridger's cheek," the statement from Walker's family reads in part.

When Walker was asked by his father why he jumped between his sister and the dog, the 6-year-old reportedly said it was because "if someone had to die, I thought it should be me."

The 6-year-old was taken to the hospital where he underwent a two-hour surgery that required more than 90 stitches.

Evans isn't the only Avenger to reach out. The family says Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Tom Holland (Spider-Man) Hugh Jackman (Wolverine, not an Avenger in the MCU, but still cool), and Anne Hathaway (Catwoman), have also reached out to the family.
