Germany is on the verge of passing a law that calls for pet owners to walk their dogs at least twice a day.
The legislation was introduced by the country's agriculture minister, Julia Klockner, who says Germany's 9.4 million dogs aren't getting the exercise they need.
"Pets are not cuddly toys — and their needs have to be considered........Especially with the current extreme temperatures we have to ensure that we can save animals from avoidable suffering through the heat — and the same applies to transportation."
If it's passed as written, the law will require residents to walk their dogs for at least one hour, twice a day.
