Suspect Surrenders After Standoff With Police in Northridge

NORTHRIDGE (CNS) - An armed man who was in a standoff overnight with police in Northridge surrendered to a SWAT team today, authorities said.

Officers were sent to the 17500 block of Raymer Street about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

About 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a SWAT team and a bomb squad were sent to the scene, police said.

According to Fox11, police originally went to the scene on a neighbor dispute involving loud music and the vandalism of vehicles during which the suspect allegedly confronted his neighbors while armed with a shotgun.

After daybreak, the man's father, reportedly in his 90s, was brought out of the residence by officers.

The man surrendered shortly after 7 a.m., and no injuries were reported, police said. His name was not immediately available.
