‘Bridgerton' Tops Streaming Viewership

HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - In its first full week of release, the Netflix alternate history period drama “Bridgerton'' was the most-watched program on the four streaming services whose figures are publicly released by Nielsen, according to its latest report issued today.

Viewers watched 2.648 billion minutes of the series' eight episodes between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3.  ”Bridgerton'' was third the previous week, with viewers watching 1.204 billion minutes the first three days it was available.

Nielsen, which also publicly releases viewership figures for Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Hulu, released figures for the first three days that “Wonder Woman 1984'' streamed on HBO Max. The sequel to 2017's “Wonder Woman'' starring Gal Gadot finished first for the week of Dec. 21-27, with 2.252 billion minutes watched.

Netflix's “Cobra Kai'' finished second, with viewers watching 2.606 billion minutes of its 30 episodes, including the 10-episode third season of the sequel to the 1984 film “The Karate Kid'' which was released New Year's

Day.

“Cobra Kai'' was among five programs in the latest Top 10 that were not in the previous week's. The others were “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,'' fourth with 961 million minutes watched of 36 episodes; “Schitt's Creek'' seventh with 816 million minutes watched of its 80 episodes; “New Girl,'' ninth with 728 million minutes watched of the 146 episodes of the 2011-18 Fox comedy; and “Criminal Minds,'' 10th with 711 million minutes watched of the 278 episodes of the 2005-20 CBS police procedural crime drama.

The final eight episodes of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'' were released New Year's Eve. “Criminal Minds'' was 11th in the previous report with 648 million minutes watched.

“Soul,'' the computer-animated comedy-drama produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released in late December by Walt Disney Pictures, was third with 1.343 billion minutes watched in the first full week it was available on Disney+. “Soul'' was second in the previous report with 1.669 billion minutes watched in its first three days it was available.

“Soul'' was the only non-Netflix program in the Top 10.

“The Office'' was fifth with 937 million minutes watched of its 192 episodes in the final four days it was streamed on Netflix. The 2005-13 NBC comedy began streaming on the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock New Year's Day.

Dropping out of the Top 10 were the science fiction film “The Midnight Sky'' starring George Clooney; the Disney+ “Star Wars'' series “The Mandalorian''; and the Christmas films  ”How The Grinch Stole Christmas'' and “The Christmas Chronicles 2.''

The Top 10 consisted of five acquired programs, four original streaming series and one movie.

The Top 10 programs were  ”Bridgerton''; “Cobra Kai''; “Soul''; “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina''; “The Office''; “Grey's Anatomy''; “Schitt's Creek''; “The Crown''; “New Girl''; and “Criminal Minds.''
