Pedestrian Killed by Vehicle in Lancaster Area

LANCASTER (CNS) - A man was hit by a vehicle and killed today while walking in the Lancaster area, authorities said.

The man, in his 60s, was fatally injured about 5 a.m. at Avenue J east of 70th Street East, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

The motorist stopped at the scene and was interviewed by officers.

“The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is not suspected at this time and is still under investigation,'' a CHP statement said.
