Convicted Sex Offender Charged with Molesting 3 Girls in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 25-year-old convicted sex offender is scheduled to be arraigned next week on charges of molesting three girls he tutored in literacy program at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana.

Miguel Angel Pineda of Huntington Beach was charged last week with nine felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child younger than 14. Pineda, who is being held on $1 million bail, is scheduled to be arraigned April 8 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.

Pineda is accused of molesting three girls when they were 7 and 8 years old, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Pineda allegedly met the girls at Washington Elementary School in Santa Ana as he helped them learn to read through a Boys & Girls Club literacy program in 2017 and 2018, prosecutors said.

Pineda pleaded guilty in 2019 to molesting another child he met through another Boys and Girls Club program, prosecutors said.

Pineda was arrested March 23 and made his first appearance in court March 25.
