Car Strikes, Kills Bear on Golden State Freeway in Castaic

CASTAIC (CNS) - A bear was struck and killed by a vehicle on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, authorities said this morning.

The incident involving a silver Nissan Altima was reported about 11:55 p.m. Monday near Cherry Canyon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bear was found in the center divider of the freeway and the vehicle sustained major front end damage, the CHP said.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries to anyone in the vehicle.
