GLENDALE (CNS) - A man was shot and stabbed and another man was injured during a confrontation at a Glendale pastry shop, authorities said today.

The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. Sunday at Paradise Pastry and Cafe, 1825 W. Glenoaks Blvd., according to Glendale police Sgt. Christian Hauptmann.

“Upon arrival, officers located an adult male to the front of the location who had suffered from at least one gunshot wound and had been stabbed,'' Hauptmann said. “Officers performed life-saving measures.''

The man was taken to County USC Medical Center where he underwent surgery and was expected to survive, the sergeant said.

“A second adult male that was involved in the confrontation had initially fled the scene, but was quickly identified and located by the Glendale Police Department,'' Hauptmann said. He suffered an injury in the confrontation and was treated at another hospital.

“No other subjects sustained injuries at the location and it does not appear that there are any outstanding suspects at this time,'' he said.

Detectives were sorting through surveillance video to try to determine what led to the shooting and stabbing, Hauptmann said.
