It’s a Small World and a Big Flood at Disneyland

Following the decoration of Disneyland’s It’s a Small World for the Holiday season, the attraction became flooded as the flume was refilled with water. Ultimately, this will delay the opening of the attraction as the theme park prepares for the winter holiday season and their new Merriest Nites after hours event.

The morning of Wednesday, November 10th, the classic boat ride became flooded upon refill that affected some of the machinery used to operate it. The only upside in the situation is that the flooding occurred in the early morning hours while the park was closed to the public, according to Disneyland officials, so those that might’ve stood in one of the many painstakingly long lines at the park were spared the inconvenience.

Teams are working around the clock to get the timeless boat ride back up and running as they’re aware of how beloved it is, especially around the Holiday season. They have yet to announce a reopening date, but at the very least, visitors of the park can look on from the outside and appreciate the decorated exterior.

In addition to the annual return of the staples like The Nightmare Before Christmas transformation of The Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain becoming Ghost Galaxy, “A Christmas Fantasy” parade and “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks show will also be rejoining the attractions at the park. Also, the Festival of Holidays food festival and Viva Navidad street party will be back at Disney California Adventure park.
