SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 27-year-old man was arrested tonight for allegedly stabbing two people, one of them fatally, in Santa Ana.

Santa Ana Police Department officers were called about 8:20 p.m. Thursday to the South Coast Global Medical Center after the hospital received the two victims, who were both suffering from stab wounds, according to a department statement.

Jose Merlan, 27, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other victim was treated for their wounds.

SAPD detectives determined the stabbing occurred Thursday at Centennial Skatepark, located in the 1700 block of Fairview Street, and reviewed surveillance video from the location.

The footage shows the suspect, Nicholas Nunez of Santa Ana, allegedly getting into an altercation with the two victims, which escalated to the stabbing.

Detectives said the altercation and stabbing stemmed from ``an ongoing dispute'' between Nunez and the victims.

Nunez was taken into custody about 7:10 p.m. Friday and was booked for murder and attempted murder, police said.
