A Lynwood man was killed early this morning after he crashed head-on into an SUV while driving the wrong way on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Los Angeles. The crash was reported at 4:25 a.m. on the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway west of La Cienega Boulevard, according to Officer L. Del Rosario of the California Highway Patrol, who investigated at the scene.

Danny R. Silva, 27, was driving a white 2018 Mazda MX5 Miata roadster westbound in eastbound lanes directly toward a black 2012 Infinity EX35 SUV driven in the No. 4 lane by a 54-year-old Los Angeles man. The SUV driver swerved to the right to try to avoid the roadster which still crashed into the SUV head-on, Del Rosario said. Paramedics pronounced Silva dead at the scene, the officer said. The SUV driver suffered moderate injuries. Both were the sole occupants in their vehicles.

Anyone with information about the collision was asked to contact Del Rosario at the CHP West Los Angeles area office at 310-642-3939.
