Do Not Eat Raw Oysters if You Live in These States

The Food & Drug Administration warns against eating raw oysters in these 13 states:

  • California
  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Tennessee
  • Pennsylvania
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Maryland

The FDA says people eating oysters from these regions have made people sick with Sapovirus. This virus can cause extreme stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, fever, and headaches. The oysters were shipped to these states from a South Korean food company called Dai One Foods. The FDA suggests throwing out any oysters recently purchased in California or any of the other listed states.
