According to the Press Enterprise, Hemet homeowners Scott and Tammy Laffin lost out to squatters who camped out in their home.
The Laffin's, who now live in Oregon, were trying to sell their Hemet home in a short sale to an Orange County investor.
The only thing in their way was Jeremy Pennington and his fiancée, Misti Ford who had occupied the house without permission. Pennington told the Laffin's a sob story of them getting conned out of rent by a fraud and the Laffin's decided to let them stay ofver Christmas. However, any effort to remove them after the holiday has been unsuccessful.
Now the Bank refused to extend the short sale on the house and instead has put the home in forclosure.
