Patient sues hospital after she lost part of her intestine due to sponge left behind (Video)

 

According to CBS Los Angeles, a woman is suing Simi Valley Hospital after 4 years of pain caused her to have a part of her intestine removed because a medical sponge was left in her after a surgery.

Carol Critchfield went to Simi Valley Hospital in 2007 for a hysterectomy.  After the surgery, she was never the same.  She would wake up in pain and dehydrated.  

It was not until four years later, and another surgery that they found a medical sponge that was left behind and had been overgrown by scar tissue.
