A federal investigation into claims State Senator Ron Calderon solicited bribes has worried other democratic lawmakers.
According to the Whittier Daily News, Senate President Darrell Steinberg has asked the chamber's Rules Committee to remove Calderon from all of his committee positions until the FBI completes its investigation. The move would cut off many of Calderon's campaign contributions and reduce the size of the Montebello representative's staff.
Al Jazeera America last week made public an affidafit filed with a U.S. District Court that claims Calderon is under investigation for soliciting a total of $88,000 in bribes from an undercover FBI agent posing as a film producer and from the CEO of a hospital in Long Beach.
