By now, it‘s obvious that Mitt Romney’s selection of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate has fundamentally shifted the dynamic of the Presidential race.

Everyone, whether liberal or conservative, seems to agree on that. However, what is not clear is how Ryan has shifted the race. Despite Democratic bravado suggesting that his budget plan will turn off seniors and drive independents into the arms of the Obama campaign, early signs are showing precisely the opposite happening.

Indeed, following Ryan’s selection as Vice President, his approval rating more than doubled among Democrats. Moreover, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already been reduced to sending out panicked fundraising emails following the displays of enthusiasm for Ryan in his home district (which itself leans Democratic).
