A man identifying himself as "James Holmes," reportedly called an MTVreality star about a month before the deadly Aurora, Colo., movie theater massacre to ask about the man's "sick and dark twist of the Batman movies."

Pimp My Ride star Diggity Dave wrote, directed, and stars in a Batman spinoff that features "a young vigilante Batman shooting down evil doers" and has a trailer depicting a crowded movie theater, CBS Los Angeles reported Wednesday.

In an interview with CBS Los Angeles radio affiliate KNX 1070, Dave described his movie as "a lot more darker with a lot more heavier violent overtone."

Holmes, who is suspected of opening fire on a crowded theater at the "The Dark Knight Rises" premiere, contacted Dave to talk about the more gruesome nature of his film, Dave told the station.
