"Rotten Egg" Odor Reported Across Much of SoCal

Authorities are trying to determine what's behind a sulfur or rotten eggs smell in the air across much of the Southland.

The Los Angeles Fire Department has received hundreds of phone calls -- including some to 911 -- about the smell, which has been reported from the Palm Springs area to Simi Valley.

KTLA viewers reported the stench over a wide area -- from Fontana, Redlands and Hesperia to the north San Fernando Valley to Valencia.

Fire officials said they've been in contact with the Air Quality Management District, which is investigating the odor.
