Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa defended himself Wednesday against criticism that he should have informed city officials that Anschutz Entertainment Group might be sold.
At a press conference on a pension proposal, Villaraigosa said that he regularly talks with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Anschutz Co. head Phil Anschutz, and knew AEG might be listed for sale.
But a sale wouldn't affect the city's contract crafted with AEG for a football stadium and convention center hall, he insisted, nor impact plans to return the NFL to L.A.
