
He shot two San Bernardino County sheiff's deputies during an escape attempted - killing one and gravely wounding the other. Other deputies drove him back inside with gunfire. The standoff ended after 5pm local time when the cabin went up in flames after deputies began blasting tear gas canisters through the windows. A single gunshot was heard coming from the cabin before the structure was fully engulfed by the blaze. Investigators reportedly found a charred body in the basement of the cabin, though authorities are waiting for forensic tests to make the final determination that Dorner is, in fact, dead.
