The American Civil Liberties Union has struck again in Cranston, Rhode Island
 says one local candidate after he became aware that the signature school event, “the father daughter-dance” had been banned in all Cranston public schools.

The new superintendent of Cranston schools, Dr. Judith Lundsten, sent out a letter in August banning all “gender specific events” at the school because of a complaint from the ACLU last May.

“This is 2012 and they [public schools] should not be in the business of fostering blatant gender stereotypes,” Steven Brown of the RI ACLU told the WPRO Morning News with Tara Granahan and Andrew Gobeil.

Sean Gately Republican candidate for State Senate in District 26 says once again the ACLU is taking on Cranston and once again the school committee, that his opponent Democrat Frank Lombardi was a member of, was “asleep at the switch.”
