Two University of California, Berkeley, law students are accused of beheading an exotic bird at Las Vegas’ famous Flamingo hotel and casino.

According to Fox5Vegas.com,  Las Vegas police said they received a call Friday morning, reporting that two men were being detained for allegedly killing a 14-year-old Helmeted Guineafowl, part of the Flamingo's wildlife habitat. Surveillance video captured the two chasing the bird into trees.

A witness told police the men then emerged from the trees, carrying the body and severed head of the bird. Witnesses also told officers they earlier saw the suspects throwing the bird, discussing killing it and laughing about it.

The suspects claim to be law students at University of Berkeley in Northern California and produced student ID cards backing that claim. When police arrived, the suspects refused to talk to them. The students were brought to a Clark County Detention Center.

Police identified the suspects as 24-year-old Eric Cuellar and 24-year-old Justin Teixeira. The two face felony charges of conspiracy and willful, malicious torture/killing of wildlife.
