LONG BEACH (CNS) - Long Beach police searched today for someone who hurled a Molotov cocktail at a man sitting in front of a market on Pacific Coast Highway, sending him to the hospital in serious condition.

A surveillance camera was rolling when the 54-year-old man suffered burns to his lower extremities around 7 p.m. Friday night while waiting for his father outside the market in the 200 block of West Pacific Coast Highway.

``The bottle possibly contained a flammable liquid as it caught fire upon striking the ground,'' said Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton.``It is  unknown why this victim was targeted.''

The assailant remains at large.
