After not being allowed inside a Chinese maternity hotel, the City of Chino Hills obtained a court order to inspect the facility at 15250 Woodglen Drive, west of Frost Avenue in Chino Hills.

City Attorney Mark Hensley announced at Tuesday’s city council meeting that city staff members and other agencies inspected the facility last week to catalog the code violations and build a case for a cease-and-desist order.

“Within two weeks, we’ll have our case built and the courts can tell them to cease operations,” Mr. Hensley said.

The hilltop mansion is being advertised in mainland China as the “Los Angeles Hermas Hotel,” a place for women to recover with their newborn infants. The women reside in the Green Valley Apartments until they give birth at Garfield Medical Center, then recover for a month at 15250 Woodglen Drive with their babies before returning to China.

In September, the city learned that the 7,000-square-foot single family house on 10 acres at the top of the hill was operating as a hotel in a rural residential zone. The city found that rooms were added without permits, along with air conditioning units and electrical installations.

The city made the discovery after 2,000 gallons of sewage spilled from the property and contaminated the storm drain system on Sept. 18.
