
Starting today, the first day that students return to school in
The LAUSD already has full time officers stationed at each of the district’s high schools. For K-8 campuses, a police officer, administrator, detective or sheriff’s deputy will visit each school. They will walk through the school, speaking with students, teachers and administrators and examine the school’s safety plan. The LAPD doesn’t have the manpower to maintain the new plan indefinitely and is seeking to establish a system whereby the same officers check in with a school on a daily basis so they are familiar with the students and staff. These visits will become part of the routine of the officer who patrols the neighborhood.
