COSTA MESA – Looking to clear public spaces of homeless people's unattended belongings, city officials are proposing a law that would allow them to confiscate, store and ultimately destroy some private property.

The City Council is set to vote on the ordinance at its meeting Tuesday night.

Costa Mesa officials have waged a years-long fight against homelessness through law enforcement and by providing additional social services. This ordinance tries to satisfy residents who complain their parks are overtaken by suitcases, carts and the like. Read more at The Orange County Register
