After more than a week of unrest following the deaths of two men shot and killed by police, Mayor Tom Tait said he believes the city is ready to begin healing.
While he acknowledges that there are deep wounds across the city, Tait said he wants to lead an effort that involves people, organizations and businesses from across Anaheim in a "holistic approach" to fix the "root problems" that plague the city.
On Tuesday, Tait accepted an invitation to visit the Anna Drive neighborhood where Manuel Diaz, 25, was shot and killed by police. Earlier Tuesday, he held a meeting with high-ranking representatives of Disneyland, the Angels and the Ducks to try to form a coalition that would look at ways to "bring hope back to all of our communities."
