Three high-ranking city officials recently returned from an 11-day trip to visit Brea's two sister cities in Asia, paid for by city funds.
Mayor Don Schweitzer, Councilman Brett Murdock and City Manager Tim O'Donnell made the voyage to Anseong, South Korea, and Hanno, Japan.
O'Donnell said the exact cost of the trip isn't yet known because receipts need to be added up and currency exchanges calculated. However, O'Donnell said, airfare for the trio totaled about $5,000.
They went to Korea to attend the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folkarts. This year, Anseong hosted the event, held every four years. The council describes its mission as "safeguarding, promotion and diffusion of traditional culture and folklore."
